Gudimalkapur Flower Market is a wholesale flower market in Hyderabad. It is also one of the best places for Photography in Hyderabad.

It is one of the largest flower markets in Telangana. Flower plays a very important role in Indian culture. In South India, most women wear flowers on their head everyday as a part of their culture.

Buyers come here from as far as 50 kilometres from the nearby villages and resell them in their areas. they come really early in the morning so that they reach on time. The flowers are required in the morning when people visit the temples.

If you are a visitor to Hyderabad from outside India, you must spend a morning here. I organise Photowalks in Hyderabad for groups and for individuals. If you are on a short visit, I can show you the best of what Hyderabad has to offer.

Great Opportunity for Photographers

It is a great opportunity for any photographer to visit and capture this place. You will see the vibrancy of the flowers and the human interaction between the buyers and sellers. You will understand what I mean, by seeing the pictures below.

When to go?

Morning is definitely the best time to go here, ideally for 1 hour around sunrise. That is the time the market is at its peak of transactions and activities.

How to go?

The best way to reach here is to take a cab.

Estimated Time

You must spend at least one hour here, but if you like the activities you might like to spend another hour. also because of morning the light keeps changing rapidly so you might like to take a few rounds and keep shooting. after sometime Sun starts peeping in from the roofs of the shops.

These pictures are taken during several visits to the flower market.

Tips for photographers

You might find it strange or not appropriate to take pictures of people. Many think it is an invasion of privacy. I don't think that way. I feel it is my way of creating happiness.

If I take a picture and show it to them, it immediately brings a smile to their faces. to go beyond that, I sometimes go back to the same places with prints and give it to them. that makes them extremely happy. that is my purpose of taking a picture for creating happiness.

Also, the picture goes back to the person who it belongs to - the subject. Go there with a smile on your face, interact with them, or take candid moments, and show the picture to them. You will be surprised, how friendly people are, and how much they love to get photographed.
